Open Positions

Accounting Manager - February 26, 2015

The Chamber is seeking candidates for the position of Accounting Manager, with responsibility for leading the monthly close process and for maintaining complete and accurate general ledgers, journals and account reconciliations for the Chamber and all subsidiary and affiliate organizations. Additionally, the Accounting Manager is responsible for all daily cash management functions, the grant billing process and administration of corporate credit card program.

Essential functions of the position:

  • Serve as a Finance Lead at Festivals, directing Chamber and volunteer staff in cash procedures for Oktoberfest, Taste of Cincinnati, Party in the Park, Tailgate Zone and other events. Some evenings and weekend hours are required.
  • Plan and lead monthly close process for the Chamber, including maintenance of general ledger and journal entry documentation.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for affiliate organizations and the Chamber Foundation.
  • Represent Finance on Personify core team and serve as resource for staff and interface with membership and programs teams on Personify system.
  • Perform daily cash management and treasury processes for Chamber, Foundation and all affiliate entities.
  • Maintain chart of accounts for Chamber, Foundation and all affiliate entities.
  • Manage and ensure accurate and complete import of general ledger transactions from Personify system into Sage general ledger system at each month‐end.
  • Prepare or review/post all general ledger journal entries.
  • Assist in preparing schedules and reports for annual audit.
  • Manage grant billing process and reporting for Chamber, Jobs Ohio,Jewish Foundation, ESP and others.
  • Perform general ledger account analysis and reconciliations.
  • Prepare reconciliations for all bank accounts.
  • Oversee administration of corporate credit card program.
  • Manage interface reporting from banking and payroll systems into accounting system for maximum efficiency and accuracy.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor degree in accounting
  2. Experience as accounting manager or public accounting senior with not‐for‐profit industry experience
  3. CPA certification preferred

Director, Human Resources - February 20, 2015

The Chamber is recruiting candidates for the position of Director, Human Resources. This position is responsible for talent strategy, including diversity and inclusion, policy development and administration, recruitment and hiring, compensation and benefits, performance management, training and development, employee relations, wellness and staff programs.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, implement and manage a competitive compensation and benefits program. Benchmark and recommend adjustments to salary bands and benefits.
  • Build, direct, manage and implement effective performance management processes.
  • Assess development and training needs and develop, coordinate and present training.
  • Identify and implement recruitment processes including ad placement, candidate screenings, offer letters, reference checking, drug and background checks to attract top quality and diverse
  • Provide support and guidance to senior leadership by providing advice, counsel and coaching and insuring compliance with Chamber policies, state and Federal labor laws.
  • Oversee the payroll process and serve as primary contact for all affiliate organizations.

Educational & Experience Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of progressive human resource leadership experience, with focus in talent management, talent acquisition, professional development, employee relations and compensation
    and benefits.
  • Bachelor Degree, preferably in Business Administration or related field.
  • SHRM- CP/PHR certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of employment and labor law policies, regulations and practices.
  • A strong working knowledge of HR information systems and Microsoft Office.

Policy Analyst & Advocacy Education Manager - February 10, 2015

The Chamber is seeking a Policy Analyst & Advocacy Education Manager to review and track public policy at all levels of government and educate Chamber members and staff regarding the impact the legislation will have on the Cincinnati business community.  The manager will engage Chamber members to gather feedback on legislative and regulatory issues that impact their business and will use this information to develop the Chamber’s Public Policy Agenda.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Managing the development and execution of the Chamber’s Public Policy Agenda.
  • Monitor, track and evaluate issues linked to the Public Policy Agenda and prepare issue summaries, correspondence and related materials as needed by government affairs staff and member volunteers.
  • Work with the government affairs team to advance the Chamber’s concerns/support regarding selected issues within the relevant decision-making forum.
  • Develop relationships with Chamber members to maintain a focus on public policy priorities.
  • In conjunction with other Government Affairs staff develops policy positions and lobbying strategies on proposed legislation and regulations.
  • Provide opportunities for member engagement through volunteer work (task forces) linked to governmental and public decision-making processes.
  • Assist with government affairs programs and events including the Columbus Drive-In, Washington, D.C. Fly-In, Legislative Speaker Series and the Legislative Reception. 
  • Conduct specific research projects as necessary and provide a written report communicating the results of the research. 

Specific skills desired:

  • Understanding of public policy issues and legislative and political processes.
  • Familiarity with federal/state/local governmental infrastructure and public sector agencies
  • The ability to analyze, understand and communicate legislation and regulations to others.

Member Retention Coordinator - February 10, 2015

The Chamber is seeking a Member Retention Coordinator to retain and engage Chamber members.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop business and high-level contact relationships with a book of business.
  • Retain the Chamber’s small and middle market business members and engage them in a broad array of Chamber programs and benefits programs.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly and annual quotas.
  • Contact all new members by phone within six months of joining to ensure they have logged into the website, are opted into email newsletters, have attended a Chamber event, and enrolled in a Bottom Line Benefit Program (BLB).
  • Lead the Chamber Ambassador Committee including: preparing agendas, running meetings, recruiting, engaging, and motivating committee members, and driving results.
  • Meet with Chamber members as needed to answer questions they have regarding their membership and encourage engagement through program attendance, Committee involvement and BLB participation.
  • Champion the Humana Vitality BLB program.  Engage members in this program through outbound calls, presentations and attendance at events.
  • Run the Chamber information booths at events in order to upsell memberships, engage members in BLB programs, and cross sell other Chamber events.
  • Provide input to the development of member services that will attract new members and retain existing members.

Specific skills desired:

  • Proven business acumen, relationship management and volunteer management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Extensive knowledge of the Cincinnati business community
  • Results oriented professional with excellent interpersonal, organization, attention to detail, and team building skills
