Sponsorship Sales Manager/Event Manager

The Chamber is seeking a full time Sponsorship Sales Manager/Event Manager to support the Chamber’s Sponsorship and Corporate & Community Events Department by executing the Chamber’s program sponsorship efforts from lead generation to close for assigned programs.

Qualifications

The incumbent is energetic and passionate about reaching out and consulting with businesses and community organizations on the benefits of sponsorship, prepares proposals and pricing, negotiates agreements, drafts contracts and cultivates relationships. This person is ready to represent the Chamber with business leaders, vendors, sponsors and community organizations.

He or she enjoys a challenge and can design and execute program and event budgets, sponsorship fulfillment, program and event preliminary, on-site and post production. He or she has extensive sales experience and understands the fundamentals of sales and relationship management. He or she is extremely outgoing with a warm and welcoming personality.

He or she likes to get stuff done and is comfortable setting metric-driven outcome goals. The ideal candidate works well independently and also in close collaboration with team members, toggling with ease between the two and as appropriate. He or she is technology savvy, and understands the power of using marketing channels to raise awareness of our initiatives, programs and events.

He or she likes to have fun and brings enthusiasm and humor to their work. Fast-paced environments get your blood pumping. Innovation is in your DNA. Knowledge of the talent space and workforce is a plus, but not required. More importantly the ideal candidate is an entrepreneurial spirit with a passion to make a difference.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the execution of the Chamber’s sponsorship efforts for assigned programs (Talent and Membership programs in 2017)
  • Research and develop a list of potential sponsors for each program.
  • Maintain relationships with key community and business leaders and leverage these relationships in sponsorship efforts.
  • Engage with program managers to develop strategy for sponsorship sales and include them in the proposal and sales process.
  • Penetrate customer targets to generate proposals and close sales.
  • Manage and implement sponsor benefits including providing onsite support at programs and events.
  • Identify market trends to assist in the Chamber’s overall marketing strategy.
  • Achieve annual sales goals
  • Anticipate the event needs of internal and external customers and understand how best to serve them.
  • Conduct research, identify best practices, make site visits, and find resources to help senior leaders make decisions about event possibilities.
  • Execute the planning and logistics for assigned events.
  • Assess event objectives and determine the most cost-effective means to deliver results.
  • Prepare annual budgets and timelines for assigned events. Work within the budgetary guidelines to achieve budgeted results.
  • Work closely with the Finance and Accounting team to ensure processes and controls are in place for each event.
  • Work with the Marketing department to administer a comprehensive communication and marketing strategy to increase attendance at assigned events.
  • Create new and innovative activities to evolve offerings based on changing business needs and feedback from business partners, team members and vendors.
  • Make adjustments in real time as needed; striving for continuous improvement before, during and after each event.

Supervisory Responsibility

The Sponsorship Sales Manager/Event Manager does not currently have supervisory responsibility.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree
  2. Five years related work experience in sales and event management

Senior Business Advisor – Minority Business Accelerator

The Chamber is seeking a full time Senior Business Advisor to join the Chamber’s nationally recognized Minority Business Accelerator. This position entails the direct coaching and advising of high potential minority- owned businesses; identifying new economic development resources and initiatives that support and promote minority business growth and expansion; working closely with minority-owned firms, goal setter businesses, and community partners to drive job creation and capital investment; and building strategic relationships and partnering efforts with relevant organizations (both regionally and nationally) that help the Accelerator fulfill its mission and economic impact objectives.

Qualifications

The ideal Senior Business Advisor loves a challenge and is able to personally execute the highest quality of work while managing multiple projects and activities simultaneously. He or she has an understanding of the business issues impacting, and opportunities awaiting, the Cincinnati region and uses focused strategic thinking, problem solving, network building, and people skills to deliver results and achieve goals.

He or she understands and has experience with the specific and unique issues that impact minority businesses. This leader has a drive for results and can see the bigger picture. The Senior Business Advisor is a strategic thinker, informed risk-taker, and courageous problem-solver. This open-minded person leads change and has a solid track record of driving and supporting successful businesses. The ideal candidate is mission/purpose driven, outgoing, authentic, dynamic, and approachable with a good sense of humor.

The ideal Senior Business Advisor has a strong financial and business investment background including an in-depth understanding of various debt and equity capital financing structures. He or she has strong analytical skills, and a demonstrated ability to position growth-oriented businesses for investment capital. He or she is a highly results oriented professional with excellent interpersonal and business development skills. He or she is a self-starter and visionary with a sense of urgency and purpose. This person is also confident and passionate with positive energy for work and life. He or she has a proven business acumen, relationship management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the execution of the Chamber’s mission through the Minority Business Accelerator and broader economic inclusion efforts.
  • Collaborate with the Chamber’s Vice President leading the Minority Business Accelerator in understanding and managing the growth of the entire Accelerator portfolio, the operations of the Accelerator, and supporting community-wide minority business matters.
  • Directly coach sizable, high-potential minority owned businesses with growing capacity and necessary capabilities to deliver competitive marketplace solutions
  • Conduct comprehensive financial and operational assessments of minority businesses to determine overall “readiness” for capital and new business opportunities
  • Identify complementary resources and growth strategies to support minority firms including assisting with the establishment of advisory boards, strategic partnerships, and broader “centers of influence” including bankers and capital providers, accountants, lawyers, and market-driven subject matter expertise.
  • Source opportunities for new business development, corporate and institutional client development, and broader market opportunities for minority businesses
  • Facilitate new business introductions, referrals, and key strategic engagements to advance growth opportunities for minority businesses in the region.
  • Responsible for the achievement of the performance goals of his/her individual portfolio of firms.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of relevant performance metrics, sustainability strategies, and general operations to ensure the long-term success of the Accelerator.
  • Assist in the development and presentation of Accelerator strategies and performance outcomes to internal and external audiences, including local, regional and national media channels.

Talent Connections Leader

The Chamber is seeking a full time Talent Connections Leader to support the Chamber’s Talent Department by working with our members to learn of their talent needs and help solve against them through the creation of new initiatives, programs and events that expose and connect our members to the talent and workforce resources in our ecosystem.

Essential Functions

  • Manage a timely, effective, multi-channel process to regularly and consistently learn of Chamber members’ talent challenges
  • Develop material assets, tools and other deliverables that all front-line staff can share with members when solving against a talent question that comes to us actively or passively
  • Develop metrics for success and methodology for tracking qualitative and quantitative impact
  • Build and maintain close relationships and partnerships with varied stakeholders in the talent ecosystem; make recommendations on opportunities to support, collaborate, advocate and engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and implement new initiatives, programs and events focused on systematically connecting Cincinnati Chamber members to talent-related resources
  • Work with members, talent team colleagues and higher education partners including vocational/trade/technical schools to facilitate new partnerships; develop programming to convene and connect them

Qualifications

  • The ideal Talent Connections Lead is a self-starter who is keen to make a difference in the Greater Cincinnati region. He or she will possess an intense curiosity coupled with the ability to learn and internalize new things quickly. This person brings passion to everything they focus on and has a can-do attitude.
  • The incumbent is able to develop new initiatives and build new programs and loves working with a blank canvas. This person has a high tolerance for ambiguity and knows how to cobble together available resources to achieve goals.

The position is located in a climate-controlled downtown office site and requires some amount of external activity.
