A Certificate of Origin (CO) is an important international trade document attesting that goods in a particular export shipment have been wholly obtained, produced, manufactured or processed in a particular country. It is also a declaration by the exporter. Virtually every country in the world considers the origin of imported goods when determining what duty will be assessed on the goods or, in some cases, whether the goods may be legally imported at all. The 1923 Geneva Convention named Chambers of Commerce the official body to issue, sign and stamp Certificates of Origin worldwide.
The Chamber can provide certificate of origin services in a number of different ways.
- In-Person Certification
Stop by the Chamber office anytime Monday through Fridays 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. with your notarized certificate of origin. A member of our Customer Focus Center will be available to sign and stamp your certificate. The cost is $10 per certificate for members and $30 for non-members.
- Electronic Certification
The Chamber accepts uploaded electronic PDF certificates of origin for certification. Download a blank PDF form here and save it to your desktop. Simply click on this link and purchase a certificate of origin upload credit. Look for an upload link on your online receipt, once the purchase is complete. Follow instructions to upload your completed PDF certificate of origin to the Chamber’s website. Chamber staff will sign and stamp the certificate of origin and return it to you either by email or USPS depending on the requirements of the country you are shipping to.
- Self-Certificate of Origin
