Flynn & Co. clinch Silver Status
With the annual tax deadline in our rear view mirrors, local CPA and business consultancy Flynn & Co. now has another reason to celebrate: the company recently hit 100% Silver Status via HumanaVitality, Humana’s wellness engagement program. As ChamberHealth members, Flynn & Co. employees get access to two ChamberHealth engagement advisors from Humana – and much more.
Kelly M. Flynn, Flynn & Co. Vice President Resources & Development, states, “On behalf of our clients, we’re thrilled to be through the season – and to be celebrating our new Silver Status with HumanaVitality.” Kelly reports that “it wasn’t easy at first to get everyone engaged. We started off slow last summer, and really got traction towards the end of the year.” Employees jumped on the pedometer bandwagon and started competing with each other for bragging rights and contacted their gyms to get them set up as “check-in” hot spots so staff could keep racking up points.
She continues, “As individual employees reached Silver Status, we were able to recognize them at staff meetings. That also served as a good reminder of online classes available and the reasoning behind the initiative. Tax time can dictate long hours, and we take our responsibility to our clients very seriously. It’s important to live healthy all year long. But during tax season, it’s imperative that we’re here for our customers.”
So, Flynn & Co. got out ahead: “We made healthy choices available,” offers Kelly, “almonds, granola bars and fresh fruit, so that staff would have options. And it worked: I’m starting to see a difference in how we look – and feel.”
Health starts at home. “I remember taking my laptop home and ‘making’ my family members take the health assessment. It prompted some great conversation about our habits. I joined a kickball team and was so excited when I learned that I could earn points for playing, while several of my co-workers registered for and ran in some local 5K races.”
