Young professionals learn the power of enchantment at Bold Fusion 2012

Approximately 500 young professionals converged at the region’s annual YP summit, Bold Fusion, on November 29 at Music Hall, to hear author and entrepreneur Guy Kawasaki share his views on why enchantment and building a passionate following are important for any individual, company or community.

With the theme “the power of enchantment,” the audience learned why enchantment is necessary and the benefits of building a passionate following for any individual, company or community.

Keynote speaker Guy Kawasaki, Silicon Valley venture capitalist, American Express blogger, is a sought-after speaker and bestselling author of 10 books including Enchantment: The Art of Changing Hearts, Minds & Actions.

Kawasaki is a former chief evangelist at Apple and was responsible in part for marketing the first Macintosh in 1984 —which included what is regarded as one of the most memorable and successful American television commercials of all time. He also is on a short list of people named to be an “Apple Fellow,” given in recognition for extraordinary contributions to personal computing.

Kawasaki made the famous stop to Skyline Chili when he was in town, and was pleased to share in his Bold Fusion presentation.

Other speakers included Ben Crawford, co-founder of Epipheo, a Cincinnati-based video communications company and the event’s three “enchantment ambassadors” Jennifer Goodin, Ronald McDonald House, Jay Finch, Socstock and Molly Wellman, owners of Japp’s.

The event also featured the “Digital Green Room” —a collection of Cincinnati’s leading social media mavens —who provided information and commentary before and during Bold Fusion. #boldfusion

Bold Fusion was one of the first regional events to embrace the use of social media. In 2009, Bold Fusion was the fifth-most tweeted term worldwide according to www.twend.ly, a Twitter trend and analytics application. The other trending terms of the day were iPhone, Grey’s Anatomy, American Idol, AT&T, Apple, Afghanistan and Leno.

Last year, more than 1,600 tweets were created, generating an ongoing dialogue during the event.

Now in its eight year, Bold Fusion is the largest gathering of young professionals in the region. It is an annual summit of YPs who come together for provocative discussion, learning and a common purpose -- to connect with one another and learn how to advance their career, their company and our community.

Bold Fusion is a component of HYPE, or Harnessing Young Professional Energy, the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber’s effort to grow Cincinnati USA as a top destination for young talent.
