    Nominations open for Small Business Excellence Awards

    Small Business of the Year 2011The Chamber is now accepting applications for its 2011 Small Business Excellence Awards. Here's your chance to nominate a worthy company—including your own—to acknowledge the contributions small businesses bring to Cincinnati USA. Application deadline is March 25, 2011.

    Small businesses play a critical role in the economic well-being of our region. Each generates economic growth, hiring of workers and the creation of innovative products and services that ultimately make Cincinnati USA more competitive in an increasingly global economy.

    Schreyer, ErinEach year the Chamber recognizes the accomplishments and innovation found in the small business segment of our business community at its Small Business Excellence Awards. This year’s awards will be presented on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, 11:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., at the Millennium Hotel in downtown Cincinnati. Erin Schreyer, president of Sagestone Partners, will keynote the event. Her keynote, “Transform Your Organization: Leveraging a Leadership Lens,” will explore topics of the workplace such as employee engagement, innovation and leadership.

    Winners and runners-up will be chosen by a panel of examiners composed of business owners and advisors. Judges will base their choices upon a close examination of critical business success factors as listed in the application.

    Companies can apply for consideration in two of the following categories:

    • Emerging Business of the Year – must be in business five years or less
    • Minority Business of the Year – must be a certified MBE
    • Nonprofit of the Year – must submit a 501© form
    • 10 Under 10 – 10 businesses with fewer than 10 employees
    • Small Business of the Year – 1 to 50 employees
    • Small Business of the Year – 51 to 250 employees
    • Community Involvement Award – requires separate application

    An eligible company must be a Chamber member with less than 250 employees. Applicants are required to fill out the entire application in narrative format as well as include/attach a high-res JPEG (300 dpi) of their CEO and a high-res company logo either JPG (300 dpi) or EPS format. More SBEA application guidelines

    Completed applications and all requirements must be returned to the Chamber by March 25, 2011.
