Stengel brings book tour to UC
Jim Stengel, former global marketing officer at Procter & Gamble is bringing his North American book tour to UC’s Carl H. Lindner College of Business on Friday, February 10, 2012. His book, "Grow: How Ideals Power Growth and Profit at the World's Greatest Companies", examines why some businesses grow, and most don’t.
Stengel's Cincinnati visit, hosted by the Carl H. Lindner College of Business and sponsored by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber and Crown Publishing Group, is part of a series of book tour stops that also include New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Toronto.
Collaborating with leading research firm Millward Brown Optimor and the UCLA Anderson School of Management, Stengel’s global ten-year growth study of more than 50,000 brands reveals that those who center their business on the ideal of improving people’s lives have a growth triple that of their category competitors. In “Grow,” he details how 50 of the world’s best businesses—like Red Bull, Pampers, Discovery Communications—have a cause and effect relationship between financial performance and their ability to connect with fundamental human emotions, values and sense of purpose.
Stengel is excited to bring his message to Cincinnati and the UC community, with whom he has strong ties. While at P&G, he collaborated closely with Lindner College of Business faculty in identifying the factors that yield a high performance marketing organization. “UC played a pivotal role in P&G’s marketing transformation during the past decade,” Stengel says. “Being able to share the message from my research with the university and business community in Cincinnati is especially gratifying.”
