Brent Spence Bridge: a financing plan
The Brent Spence Bridge Corridor Project hit another milestone in December when the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet together submitted to the Federal Highway Administration an initial financing plan for the Project. This plan states that Ohio and Kentucky are considering a delivery method called Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Maintain (DBFOM), via an availability payment form of public-private partnership (P3). While it is unlikely that this plan will look the same as the final, it is an important step on the way to a safer, more efficient Brent Spence Bridge.

Early in 2012, then-Chamber Board Chair Julie Janson stepped forward to make rebuilding the Brent Spence Bridge a major priority for our region and our business community. Along with many community organizations and supporters, the Chamber helped found the Build Our New Bridge Now Coalition, a group dedicated to the construction of a new, and rehab of the old, Brent Spence Bridge - faster, less expensively, and with the most benefit to the community.
