    Learn about economic development from ED professionals

    ED_101ForumDo you want to have a better understanding of economic development resources available in the Cincinnati USA region?  Do you engage with companies who are looking to locate, grow or start in the area?  Are you a business leader, government official, commercial real estate professional or in a profession that needs to have a deeper understanding of economic development?

    Time is running out to register for the Cincinnati USA Partnership for Economic Development's First Annual Economic Development - 101 Forum event on January 23, 2014 at the Sharonville Convention Center.

    The Forum is a half-day program designed to provide an advanced introduction to economic development for elected officials, community and business leaders of the 15-county region located at the intersection of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana – called Cincinnati USA. The Forum will allow participants to learn about available resources, strategic partnerships and development issues affecting economic development within our community through presentations from regional and national experts, networking with other professionals in the industry and by attending available break-out sessions to further customize your experience.  

    This forum is focused toward (but not limited to) the following governmental or business professional:

    • Business Leaders 
    • General Assembly Members 
    • County Commissioners and Administrators 
    • Municipal Mayors, Managers and Council members 
    • Township Trustees and Administrators 
    • Economic Development, Real Estate, Site Selection and Workforce Development Professionals 
    • School Superintendents, Officers and Board Members 
    • Other professionals with functions that requires the need for a deeper understanding of regional economic development.

    Program Highlights:

    Mark Sweeney2Mark Sweeney, Senior Principal of the global site selection firm McCallum Sweeney Consulting with be the forum keynote.  With more than 24 years of experience in site selection and economic development, Mr. Sweeney assists companies in identifying, evaluating, and selecting the optimal location for their capital investments. Such projects cover a wide array of related factors, including sites, infrastructure, transportation, labor and demographics, state and local taxes, and incentives.

    Break- out Sessions:
    Break-out sessions, led by regional and national experts from various industries and communities, will be offered to further customize the experience based on profession or interest. Sessions will include topics on:

    • General overview of the tools, challenges and opportunities of today's regional economic development industry 
    • Business Retention & Expansion; Business Attraction
    • Utilities 101
    • Economic Development Marketing
    • Role of Elected Officials in Economic Development
    • Overview of the State of Kentucky Incentive/Financing Programs/ED Organizations - Regional/Strategies
    • Overview of the State of Ohio Incentive/Financing Programs/ED Organizations - Regional/Strategies
    • Workforce Development
