Chamber group provides volunteer muscle
The Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber sponsors an internal group of staff called the Community Involvement Committee (CIC). The mission of the CIC is to support local charitable causes about which Chamber employees feel strongly. This summer, the group chose to support Childhood Food Solutions (CFS).
Starting with one zip code, CFS is providing food for hungry children. Teachers, community leaders and non-profit volunteers in the Cincinnati area often see hunger on the faces of children. Hunger persists in spite of government money, corporate assistance and non-profit efforts.
During summer vacation, the most reliable way to get food to schoolchildren is to take it into the neighborhoods where they live. Last summer CFS distributed food sacks through their partnerships with the Fay Apartments and the Millvale Recreation Center. Chamber employees raised $844 to help to provide these food sacks to needy children.
