Manufacturers across the tristate were honored last week for their top achievements at the 2014 MANNY Awards presented by Cincy Magazine. The impact of manufacturers in the region is significant:  180K engineers, 85K chemists, machinists, skilled laborers contribute to the region’s $108 billion GDP, and their perseverance and presence has successfully transformed our region from ‘Rust Belt’ to bragging rights with innovations in aviation, healthcare, polymers, printing, consumer goods and more. In fact, our long history of innovation and collaboration were just two of the reasons why Cincinnati was recently granted lead status for Southwestern Ohio Aerospace Region (SOAR) from among 70 communities. SOAR, a special federal manufacturing designation, provides the region with preferential consideration among 11 other regions for $1.3 billion in workforce development, land reuse and development grants.

Interestingly, over 80% of this year's MANNY Award winners are members of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber—members who look to the Chamber for government advocacy, business training, leadership development, connections, cost savings and more.

MANNY Award keynote speaker Denise Quinn, general manager of the MillerCoors facility in Trenton heralded the region’s access to a talented, skill workforce, strong highway infrastructure—and a big aquifer. The company, which produces 63 brands, including Miller, Miller Lite, Leinenkuegel and Blue Moon, recently achieved an industry-leading beer to water ratio. The performance of 16 of the region’s manufacturers were recognized Thursday in five categories:
