Actor Don Cheadle visits Chamber, talks Cincy film
While most Graduation Day speakers are forgettable, it's not likely that the
53 graduates from the Chamber's Leadership Cincinnati program will soon be
Actor Don Cheadle, best known for his roles in Hotel Rwanda, Crash, the
Ocean's Eleven series, and Iron Man series, joined Class 37 last Friday at the
Chamber to discuss his love of Cincinnati, and his upcoming film project Miles
Ahead, based on the life of legendary musician Miles Davis. The film is set to
begin filming soon in the Queen City.
Cheadle told the group that Cincinnati's preserved architecture has a lot to
do with why the film and others are being shot here. Cheadle shared that
Cincinnati looks like New York City from decades ago, and predicted more films
looking to have a New York feel will continue to be shot here. He also told the
group someday he would like to shoot a "Cincinnati film". Check out more photos of Cheadle and the group.
Film is not foreign to the Leadership Cincinnati class. In April, more than
200 people attended a class project of the group, the Freedom Film Festival, at
the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center. The April event
featured the work of three people in South Africa. The class intends to expand
the Festival to every other year here in Cincinnati.
