    Third Frontier Internship Dollars Available

Ohio Third FrontierThe Ohio Third Frontier Commission has awarded $428,571 to the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber to continue its work developing a pool of talented workers for Ohio companies and exposing students to the strategies and processes of business environments. This is the second consecutive year the Chamber has been named as the administrator of this program for the Southwest Ohio region.

Schmenk, Christiane"The investments will allow hundreds of Ohio students the opportunity to kick start their careers with valuable internships while providing Ohio businesses with the fresh talent they need to fill high skill-level jobs," Christiane Schmenk, director of the Ohio Department of Development and chair of the Ohio Third Frontier Commission, said in a news release. "Along with the support of research and development activities, the Ohio Third Frontier is moving into high-gear implementing the programs and strategy that will greatly benefit Ohio's economy and create jobs."

Ohio Third Frontier has attracted more than $7.3 billion in other investments to Ohio and assisted in the creation and retention of more than 88,000 direct and indirect jobs.

This award to the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber is part of about $8.5 million in funding the Ohio Third Frontier Commission recommended through the Ohio Third Frontier Internship Program and the Ohio Third Frontier Industrial Research and Development Center Program - a program designed to attract and build-out nationally designated and highly visible corporate, nonprofit or federal research and development centers or laboratory facilities in Ohio.

Ferguson, DenyseCompanies supporting these internships are partially compensated for wages paid during the internship. "It is important that we support the students in the program to allow them opportunities to gain hands-on experiences related to their field of study," said Denyse Ferguson, Senior Vice President and the Executive Director of the Cincinnati USA Partnership. "The program dollar match is great, but the knowledge the students gain is the real win here for any company." There is still time and funds available for your company to apply for the Ohio Third Frontier Internship Program.
