Chamber member helps small businesses thrive with non-traditional working capital
Since 2007, Blue Ash-based The Business Backer has helped thousands of businesses access more than $100 million in fee- and penalty-free, unsecured working capital by providing non-traditional funding and capital solutions.
As a short-term alternative finance company, The Business Backer provides clients with capital they need to survive - payroll, seasonality, or an emergency - or thrive - purchase new equipment, complete a renovation or expand. Additionally, clients will often use funding from The Business Backer to make adjustments in their business to become more appealing to a senior lender.
"We started our company with a simple idea: If we take the time to get to know our customers, and support them throughout our relationship, we can provide a superior financing option for small business owners," said Dan Royce, Business Development Manager, The Business Backer. "We believe that successful businesses, and successful lives, are built on a foundation of trusted long-term relationships."
The Business Backer's leaders understand the struggles small businesses face in finding capital: More than 80 percent of upper level managers have owned small businesses in the past. To lower the cost of capital, The Business Backer works with referral partners instead of high-commission broker networks, and avoids expensive marketing and advertising campaigns.
The 53-employee company has more than doubled in sized for each of the past four years, and believes in giving back to the community by supporting local internship and mentoring programs. Several employees sit on local non-profit boards including American Heritage Girls and StarShine Hospice. The Business Backer contributes to Art Works Cincinnati, Bad Girl Ventures, the Susan G. Komen Foundation, A Kid Again, the Barrett Cancer Institute, Cedar Village, and The Pisgah Youth Organization.
In February, The Business Backer was named a finalist in the 2013 Blue Ash Business Awards. The winners will be announced at a March 21st luncheon featuring keynote speaker Dr. Yousuf Ahmad, Division Senior Vice President and Chief Network Transformation Officer at Mercy Health.
