Member Companies Travel to Columbus To Meet with Legislators
On Wednesday, March 13, the Chamber, along with 43 members, traveled to Columbus to meet with legislators on our top policy priorities for the coming year. Our delegation began the day with a breakfast reception with members of the 130th Ohio General Assembly at the Ohio Statehouse, getting the chance to interact informally with many elected officials and share thoughts and ideas. We continued on to our first meeting of the day with Senate President Keith Faber and Speaker of the House William Batchelder. Members then lunched with Governor John Kasich, discussing Medicaid expansion, workforce development, and tax reform, among other issues. The afternoon was begun talking through the proposed state budget with OBM Director Tim Keen and Tax Commissioner Joe Testa, going over such potential legislature as sales tax expansion, income tax cuts, and HB 5, which would create uniform municipal income tax filings. We finished the day in breakout sessions on transportation, healthcare, and workforce development, meeting with Greg Murphy, ODOT Chief of Staff, Greg Moody, Office of Health Transformation Director, and Tracy Intihar, newly appointed Executive Director of the Office of Workforce Transformation.
