Hear from leaders of UC, Cincinnati Children’s
Securing the Future is a half-day development conference for Cincinnati's nonprofit organizations. This year's conference, on March 23, will feature a keynote from Amanda Maria Navarro, Deputy Director of PolicyLink. Navarro will focus on how organizations can use equity as an approach to creating healthy, vibrant communities of opportunity. Attendees will also have the option to pick two breakout sessions to attend. Breakout topics and leaders include:
1. Healthy Communities | Led by Karen Bankston, University of Cincinnati - View Bio
Living in a healthy community requires consumers to be aware and supportive of one another by educating and advocating within the community. This session will engage participants in a dialogue on how they can engage in the transformation to a culture of health.
2. Education | Led by Whayne Herriford, Knowledgeworks - View Bio
This breakout will look at the role that Cultural Competence plays in establishing school and classroom environments that encourage and support learning for all children. Topics like Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Microaggressions and Privilege will all be reviewed.
3. Disaggregation of Data | Ryan Padgett, Northern Kentucky University - View Bio
Are you looking to explore what your data are really telling you? It is critical to understand how to breakdown your data to identify patterns and trends that may not be evident when examining data as a whole.
4. Unconscious Bias | Led by Charla Weiss, Cincinnati Children's Hospital - View Bio
An understanding of how bias creeps into today's workplace starts with an understanding of the expanded definition of bias. These new forms of bias can be transparent to individuals looking through old lenses. This session will help the participant understand and recognize bias and learn how to change the dynamic.
