Family-owned Priority Dispatch recognized with Chamber’s Blue Ash Business Award
Founded in 1973, Priority Dispatch pioneered "same-day" delivery service starting with three vehicles and three independent contractors. Today, the firm employs 80 associates and 700 independent contractors with delivery centers located in Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, Cleveland and Toledo. Priority Dispatch also serves markets with locations in Lexington, Louisville, Grand Rapids, Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburgh and Indianapolis.
In March 2013, Priority Dispatch celebrated its 40th anniversary. According to President/CEO Jeff Thomas, the firm's primary focus in on transitioning the organization to the second generation, while still moving the business forward.
"By remaining committed to improving procedures, standardizing processes, and creating a quality strategic initiative, we have been able to attain a successful second generation transition," said Thomas.
In addition to the Blue Ash Business Award, Priority Dispatch recently received the University of Cincinnati's Goering Center for Family and Private Business Second Generation Family Business Award.
"Our goal is to continue to capitalize on two generations of entrepreneurial spirit and 40 years of innovating expedited delivery services," said Thomas. "Statistically, only thirty percent of organizations will transition to the second generation. Leading out, making hard decisions, renegotiating everything and staying committed to the succession plan-has paid off."
