Graeter's honored with Plant of the Year Award
Yet another reason to love Graeter’s, our favorite hometown ice cream shop: it’s just been honored with the Plant of the Year award by Dairy Foods.
The publication serves the dairy processing industry and reaches more than 22,000 North American dairy processor subscribers. Dairy Foods analyzes and reports on the details of the industry, from technologies advancing to trends in consumption. The editor, Jim Carper, recently visited our very own Graeter’s manufacturing plant here in Cincinnati, and wrote two lengthy articles singing its praises. Aside from the rich history of the Graeter family and their company, Dairy Foods’ article touts the new (opened in 2010) plant’s pasteurization and mixing tanks, overhead piping and pumping of liquid ingredients, and robotic palletizing. But, Carper notes, even with these new technologies, Graeter’s has managed to balance old and new, sticking with their homegrown traditional French pot techniques to maintain the supremely high quality of their ice cream.
This award is a true honor, acknowledging Graeter’s at the top of its field and letting the rest of the dairy nation know its successes. When asked his goals for the company, Rich Graeter, CEO, simply said, “Maintain our fanatical devotion to product quality.” Well put, Mr. Graeter – that’s why we locals in Cincinnati USA keep coming back for more!
