Coming Soon: Grants for Training Dollars
Bookmark the Ohio Development Services Agency, because sometime over the next few days, a new application cycle for grants is scheduled to be released for the department's Incumbent Worker Training Program.
The program makes funds available to offset a portion of the employer's costs to upgrade the skills of its incumbent workforce. It will provide reimbursement to eligible employers for specific training costs accrued during training.
According to the site, the program is designed to help ensure a robust, motivated, well-educated, and highly trained workforce critical for the retention and expansion of all businesses in Ohio. The ultimate goal of this program to provide needed training dollars and fill the gap in current programs is twofold: allow employers to retain and grow their existing Ohio workforce and create a statewide workforce that can meet the present and future demands in an ever-changing economy.
The program's funding will be used in conjunction with private contributions to fund skill-upgrade training. Eligible employers must demonstrate that by receiving funding assistance through the Program, their business will not only obtain a skilled workforce but will improve their company processes and competitiveness. This program will reimburse up to $4,000 per employee per year, and $500K per business. These funds are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
