New program focuses on business growth
At the Chamber, our number one priority is helping you grow your business. With this in mind, we not only offer regular seminars and workshops for a number of common issues, but have recently introduced a new initiative called GrowthForce. Officially launched May 12, GrowthForce is a reengineered business expansion and retention initiative designed to cultivate and accelerate the growth of regional businesses. The new program will be led by the Cincinnati USA Partnership, an economic development initiative directed by the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber. “The key to economic development will always be the vibrancy of our diverse, existing business base” said Dave Dougherty, the interim executive director of the Partnership. “We work tirelessly to attract new businesses to the area, and now GrowthForce will nurture the success and expansion of companies that already employ people and make our community a great place to live and work.”
Led by the Partnership, GrowthForce will provide information and help with common problems and needs, like identifying sources of capital, recruiting and training a talented workforce, potential tax incentives and abatements, and networking and marketing opportunities that will lead to new customers. GrowthForce also aligns with the Chamber’s goal of advocating pro-business government policies and regulations.
GrowthForce is built on the previous success of the Regional Business Retention Committee, a volunteer group of 30 business leaders that meets with owners to confidentially discuss challenges, plans for growth, and opportunities. This existing resource is built upon by partnering with the private sector, economic development organizations, and regional workforce investment boards. The impact of GrowthForce will aim to reach more local companies by expanding this committee of volunteers and professionals by 25%. Part of the GrowthForce initiative will also be the publishing of the Cincinnati USA Regional Business Resource Guide, a compilation of available services and support, providing training and support materials to partners.
As part of our focus on growth, the Business Courier’s 10th annual Commercial Real Estate Developers Power Breakfast featuring the Cincinnati USA Partnership Growth Awards took place on May 17 of this year. The Growth Awards recognize businesses that attract and retain jobs and capital investment in the Cincinnati USA Region. Growth Awards were presented in the following categories: New to the Region Project of the Year, Regional Expansion Project of the Year, Regional Retention Project of the Year, and Crowning Achievement Project of the Year.
