Member design firm growing since award

    Traction team

TractionOn May 24, the team at downtown design firm Traction scooped up the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber’s 2011 Emerging Business of the Year Award. The award recognizes the work Traction has produced since they opened their doors in early 2007.

In the last few months, new accounts and projects meant that Traction could welcome aboard four new talents. Candy Niemeyer and Emily Webb, both fresh from the School of Advertising Art in Kettering Ohio, are Traction’s newest designers. Ben Steinbrunner is in house for the month of September, using his interactive design skills to code a video game engine. Travis Childs also joined the team as account manager, keeping Traction’s exciting designs heading smoothly out the door and into the hands of clients.

For a design firm of only 9 people, Traction has some serious output to its name. They gleefully develop brand identities, video games, social media strategy, apps, and websites for brands both local and international. The philosophy at Traction is to do work for the things that matter— things you love and things that make you smile.

Their clients alone are enough to make them smile; they’ve done work for Oktoberfest, various local arts organizations, HYPE, P&G, the NBA, the NFL (they developed identity for the Madden Most Valuable Protectors Award), and many more. This year they’ve continued work with the Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL), a pro football organization for which Traction developed a brand identity that includes logos, websites, videos, team gear, and beyond. Most recently, they’ve started work on new campaigns and a website refresh for ArtsWave, Cincinnati’s biggest arts organization.

Traction was honored to win the Emerging Business Award award. “We are honored and humbled to win this award, especially with so many amazing new and exciting businesses in Cincinnati,” said Tony Neary, owner-founder of Traction. “The team at Traction is an amazing group of talented people, all eager to do great work and truly collaborate together. The word team really sums it up—we are all looking out for each other, and our clients, to do the best work possible.”
