Public hearing on Hamilton Co. Tax Levies - July 27

The Chamber is urging Hamilton County Commissioners to follow the recommendations of the Commission-appointed Tax Levy Review Committee’s (TLRC) for three levies on November’s ballot: the Indigent Care Levy; the Mental Health Levy and the Senior Services levy.

The TLRC recommends commissioners place the Indigent Care levy on the ballot at an inflation-adjusted rate (approximately $9 per $100k house); recommends that Senior Services be held flat for 3 years and to complete a strategic planning process within that timeframe; and recommends the Mental Health levy remain flat for 5 years.

Commissioners held a public hearing for the Indigent Care levy last week and will hold hearings on the Senior Services and Mental Health levies this Thursday, July 27 (Mental Health will be at 6:30p.m., followed by Senior Services at 7:30p.m.). The hearings are open to the public and will both be held at the Hamilton County Board of Elections (4700 Smith Road, in Norwood).
