Insights in Inclusion looks at immigrant entrepreneurs
Help celebrate National Immigrant Welcoming Week with an Insights in Inclusion event on Tuesday, September 19, featuring immigration lawyer and author, Richard Herman, who will explain just how important immigrant entrepreneurs are both regionally or nationally.
Herman’s book, Immigrant, Inc.: Why Immigrant Entrepreneurs Are Driving the New Economy (and how they will save the American worker) explains how immigrant entrepreneurs are very crucial to America's economy. Herman will explain why immigrants are twice as likely as non-immigrants to start businesses and how they are key contributors to more than half of the high-tech start-ups in Silicon Valley. Growing businesses create new jobs, which result in a more sustainable economy.
The entrepreneurial spirit among immigrants has created a few of the most iconic American companies like Google, YouTube and eBay. Immigrant, Inc. makes the case that a nation that wants to compete globally must understand the competitive edge immigrants give to a country.
Mr. Herman’s keynote will be followed by a panel of successful immigrant entrepreneurs, representing a wide range of businesses from international enterprises to “Main Street,” lifestyle businesses. Registration and Light Breakfast will be available at 7:30 a.m. and the Keynote and Panel will begin at 8 a.m. at The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
Insights in Inclusion is a periodic series of “deep dives” on topics that support the implementation of Diverse by Design™, our region’s groundbreaking initiative to attract, develop and retain diverse, high potential talent and move our region to full inclusion.
