Insights in Inclusion looks at immigrant entrepreneurs
Join us as we celebrate National Immigrant Welcoming Week with an Insights in Inclusion event on September 19, featuring immigration lawyer and author, Richard Herman, who will explain just how important immigrant entrepreneurs are in our nation.
Herman’s book, Immigrant, Inc.: Why Immigrant Entrepreneurs Are Driving the New Economy (and how they will save the American worker) lays out the case as to why immigrant entrepreneurs matter. Herman will explain why immigrants are twice as likely as non-immigrants to start businesses and how they are key contributors to more than half of the high-tech start-ups in Silicon Valley. Growing businesses create new jobs, which help sustain America’s economy.
The entrepreneurial spirit among immigrants has created some of the most iconic American companies like Google, YouTube and eBay. Immigrant, Inc. makes the case that a nation that wants to compete globally must understand the competitive edge immigrants give to a country.
Mr. Herman’s keynote will be followed by a panel of successful immigrant entrepreneurs, representing businesses ranging from international enterprises to “Main Street,” lifestyle businesses. Registration and Light Breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m. and the Keynote and Panel will begin at 8 a.m. at The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.
Insights in Inclusion is a periodic series of “deep dives” on topics that support the implementation of Diverse by Design™, our region’s groundbreaking initiative to attract, develop and retain diverse, high potential talent and move our region to full inclusion.
