Overtime rule delayed after lawsuit filed
A new overtime rule that was slated to go into effect on December 1 has been delayed. The regulation would have increased the salary threshold by which employers are required to pay overtime to employees from $23,660/year to $47,476/year. Following a September lawsuit filed by 21 states, including Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana, a federal judge in Texas has granted a preliminary injunction to halt the U.S. Department of Labor’s December 1, 2016 implementation date.
