Food of Love Day
United Chinese Americans https://ucausa.org/ is partnering with local Chinese American organizations to launch the Food of Love Day on May 10th, kicking off a whole week of food sharing and giving back across America. May 10th marks the 151st Anniversary of the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad that more than 12,000 Chinese American workers helped build in 1860s.
In the Greater Cincinnati-Dayton area, Ohio Chinese American Association (OCAA-Cincinnati) is co-organizing this national event with Greater Cincinnati Chinese Cultural Exchange Association (GCCCEA), the Mason HuaXia Chinese School, and the Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs Association (APAPA) to deliver over 1,000 lunch boxes to homeless shelters, refugee communities, underprivileged public schools, and children and families in need. By sharing food with those most vulnerable during this challenging time, the Chinese community is also supporting small businesses, including restaurants and grocers, to sustain the downturn while contributing to the effort to revive.
We would encourage everyone who is in the position to contribute to join us to help those in need and patronize those small businesses in our community in any way they can. Together, we will emerge as a stronger community.
